SUBJECT: Lies!

The bureaucracy at San Jose State requires three letter of
recommendation so that I might teach their graduate course in data
structures. You have been selected as one of the lucky participants.

The students are not too sophisticated, basically Master's level with
limited background in Computer Science.
The course will be given this spring, and I will be using my LISP
manuscript. I realize the inconvenience involved, but a few lies are
good for the soul. You know a bit about the manuscript; it is much
improved since you read it. You know a bit about me; I am much
improved... well... . I take my teaching duties quite seriously so
you should not feel this is a boondoggle. I will be debugging a
"final" version for publication, so the text for the course will be
readable. Basically it will be a very strong course in data structures
and LISP, similar to what I have done at UCLA and UCSC. Students at
those institutions seemed to have enjoyed and profited from the
experience.

The letter should be addressed to:

Dr. Frank Fuller, Chairman
Mathematics Department
San Jose State University
San Jose, Cal 95192

				Thank you very much,
				J.A.
